All the Member Lending Institutions - Regional Rural Banks

Kind Attn.: Head, SME/Priority Sector Dept.

Circular No. 86 /2014-15

Madam / Dear Sir,

Re-registration of Regional Rural Banks (RRBs)

As you are aware, consequent upon merger/amalgamation of several of the Regional Rural Banks (RRBs), the performance of RRBs was reviewed by the Trust and a new set of guidelines with reference to modifying the registration criteria of RRBs as Member Lending Institutions (MLIs) were issued by the Trust vide its circular No. 72/2013-14 dated January 02, 2014.

However, based on the suggestions of several RRBs, State Govt.'s, and other stakeholders, certain relaxations in the registration criteria of RRBs were carried out by the Trust and the same was intimated to all the RRBs vide the Trust's Circular No. CGTMSE/(44)/3330 dated June 10, 2014.

We are happy to inform that since then, as many as 10 RRBs (mostly comprising of merger of 2 or 3 RRBs) have since been re-registered as MLIs of the Trust. We are confident that with the completion of latest periodical rating review by NABARD, more RRBs are likely to fulfil the revised guidelines and, would become eligible for re-registration. The RRBs, who have not yet forwarded the relevant documents to the Trust for the purpose of re-registration, are once again requested to do so on a priority basis.

Needless to mention that the Trust would continue to settle all the eligible claims with respect to the guarantees issued by the Trust whether or not the RRB concerned, fulfills the revised registration criteria of the Trust.

The contents of this circular may please be brought to the notice of all your Offices.

 Yours faithfully,

 (S.S. Bakshee)
